Artistic Mentorship Program (AMP)

The Artistic Mentorship Program (AMP) is Youth Ottawa's newest creative development workshop series offered to Grade 10, 11, 12 students enrolled in arts courses, clubs or community programs. Professional artists and entrepreneurs facilitate 8-10 classroom visits that provide a mentorship experience for students to engage in the arts rooted in deep learning, character development, community engagement and professional skill building. Students explore the methods involved in producing a curated public art event while gaining expert knowledge from professionals in the industry during the creative process (outlined in the Ontario Curriculum). Students are challenged to plan, produce, present and reflect on their work using an inclusive team based approach. The outcome is an event designed by students that allows them to share their artistic passion with the general public, peers and arts community. The program is FREE thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and has already been delivered to 30 classes and over 600 youth since it's launch in September 2017.
